THE OPEN DOOR
The Lord commanded Noah to build an ark.
He told Noah that a time was coming when a flood would cover the face of the earth.
The flood would destroy all living things not within the safety of the ark.
Ever though destruction was promised,
it was many years before
the flood actually occurred. The bottom
line is, however, that the flood did happen, and the human race, except for Noah
and his family, perished. Many people, no doubt, had opportunity to enter
the ark, or build one of their own, but refused to do so. The scripture informs
us that at some point in time, God shut the ark up and that opportunity was lost.
The Word of God says that there
is another time appointed when His offer of forgiveness and redemption from sin
will no longer be available. Luke 13:25 states "When once the master
of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without,
and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer
and say unto you, I know you not whence you are:..."
Just as sure as the flood came,
the end of time will come also, and that "door" to God's mercy and love will be
shut forever. According to the Apostle Peter, the reason the door remains
open now is that God is "...long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should
perish, but that all should come to repentance..." II Peter 3:9. Peter goes
on to say,"...But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night..."
Are you ready for that day?
Have you taken advantage of God's current "open door" policy? If not, please
be assured that Jesus Christ is still forgiving sin and cleansing from that sin
with his precious blood. He loves you and is ready to save you from an eternal
hell.
God's plan of salvation is found
in Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you
in the name of Jesus Chrit for the remission of sins, and ye shall recieve the gift
of the Holy Ghost".
Make haste to enter into the "ark
of safety" while the door is still open. Open your heart and ask Jesus to
come in. If you would like personal prayer, contact me at
